CUSTOMER STORIES

“I guess first and foremost the hut is my sanctuary from family. It’s so precious to me! I have another room with beautiful views across the West Sussex Downland countryside. It’s also where I teach singing, piano and the recorder to children.

I also do voice training and vocal confidence for adults. I call it “The Shepherd Hut School of Music” I absolutely love my Roundhill Shepherd Hut.”

Welsh Valley Retreat

A Rustic French Shepherd Hut And A Bohemian Indian Shepherd Hut

“Myself and my wife spent a year or so looking for the right makers of our shepherds huts.

We must have looked at about twenty different companies across the country.

From the beginning Roundhill shepherds huts stood out a mile apart in our eyes.

The craftsmanship, level of detail, and way in which the huts were finished off with interiors that drew together their every aspect; was just stunning.

Paul and Louise, are the most supportive and capable team that you can hope for. We had a couple of huts from them and they worked with our themes, and the requirements we had for our holiday cottage business. No detail was too small, and nothing was the slightest bit of bother. They were happy to have as much or little input into the creative/decorative aspects of the huts as we wanted.

Supportive, professional, and very capable at what they do, I think they could design a hut that would delight anyone.

It was of great support amidst busy working lives to know that we could leave the huts in their hands and have no fear of being disappointed.

And we are absolutely delighted with our huts- just waiting until we can have some more.

I could not recommend them more highly.”

“My Roundhill shepherds hut was a present from my lovely husband. The whole family use it and love it. It’s a peaceful and happy place to read, work or chat with friends, or a place to spend the night in its huge sofa- bed. Paul and Louise were wonderful. They thought of every detail and it was built with real craftsmanship and love. It even has Victorian floor boards, Georgian windows and a beautiful French cupboard, all of which were individually chosen and restored for our hut, giving it its huge character and charm. It also has a ‘Hobbit’ wood burning stove for when it’s chilly and a small hidden fridge to keep a few bottles cold, just in case!

It now stands in the orchard and looks towards our house and the woods beyond, looking so inviting. Thank you Roundhill we feel very lucky to have one of your beautiful and individual shepherds huts and we all just LOVE it.”

Living Wagon

“I am so thrilled with “Lolly hut” She really is amazing and different. The paint work on the antique French dresser base and old English cupboard doors works so well, just brilliant. Both Louise and Mark who built her were totally in tune with all my quirky ideas. My friends who have visited have all remarked on her individuality and excellent workmanship. Just wonderful – Well done”

B&B Shepherds Huts

Little Oldwick – A room with a view, inside and outside!

“We were really pleased with the layout of this glamping shepherd’s hut, commissioned as a b&b to incorporate a kitchen, sofa/double bed and shower room. Our client had really liked our previous interior designs, so gave us the opportunity to recreate a similar effect. All built from reclaimed wood including 19th Century pine floor boards, Georgian sash windows and numerous antique bits and bobs giving it a rustic lived in look, complete with Paul’s art work on the curved ceiling, this hut had views on the inside as well as the outside!”

Lakeside B&B

“Paul & Lou made the whole process of building our Shepherds Hut totally enjoyable. Their patience & attention to detail is second to none & we are thrilled with the end result ! We really love our hut as does everyone else who has either seen it or stayed in it!
Many many thanks.”

Megan & Neville Farrington

Our client had a spectacular downland location in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Plenty of windows were created to take in these beautiful views. The shepherd hut was supplied with electrics and also a gas combination boiler, and all fitted out with a kitchen unit, double bed and shower and toilet.

The Mill Hut

Garden Office Shepherd’s Hut

“We are absolutely delighted with our shepherd’s hut. We use it as a working office – it’s a highly flexible one! Dealing with Lou and Paul was always a pleasure. Lou had the uncanny ability to understand our vague ideas, interpret them and then develop and propose fantastic designs. Attention to detail and ability to “get” what we wanted was truly impressive. Lou’s brilliant at sourcing too, always finding a way to get the right materials and artefacts to create a great result. We are sticklers for detail, and were really pleased with all the painstaking efforts. Paul’s craftsmanship and flair was always so impressive. Furthermore, we were also very pleased with the professionalism in all commercial and logistical dealings with them both.”

Rustic Shepherd Hut

“Our growing family meant we needed more bedrooms in our West Sussex farmhouse and when we saw a shepherd’s hut on display at the Cowdray farm shop we were immediately convinced that this could be the solution. We met with Lou and Paul at our house and at their workshop near West Dean and were impressed by their enthusiasm, taste and workmanship. So we took the plunge and ordered one

Now the hut occupies a perfect position in our garden with a spectacular view across our fields to the woods beyond. All of our friends and family are smitten!

The whole process was completely painless. Lou was very patient with us and encouraged us to think about every small design detail. She has a great eye and we are thrilled with the little touches and the use of reclaimed materials, some of which came from the Aladdin’s cave she keeps in her barn. Flooring from a Georgian house in Chichester and so on.

We wanted the hut to double as a quiet reflective space and a spare bedroom and the foldaway Murphy bed works brilliantly in that regard. Our local tradesmen made sure we were plumbed in so we have loo, hot water on demand, shower, electricity, little kitchen sink, thermostatically controlled heat and even wi-fi!

So we couldn’t be happier. Many thanks to all the team. You were great!”

Mobile Cinema

Cinema Heaven in Kent
A personal account by Micheal (July 2015)

“I have been a film fan all my life and having my own cinema up to now had been an impossible dream. My wife Andrea and I have considered at various times the possibility of a loft or garage conversion but neither seemed practical.
One of our hobbies is to visit new cinemas and when I heard about the Roundhill Picture Palace at New Park, Chichester we were very keen to take a look. The cinema has been constructed on wheels and is in fact a mobile cinema, which are extreamely rare. We were very impressed by the superb artistry in its construction and internal fittings (which included seats from a former cinema)
and by the wonderful ceiling paintings of scenes from famous films. A leaflet had informed us that it had been created by Roundhill Shepherd Huts. I met with the team who were friendly and enthusiastic about my proposed project. The cinema would be constructed in sections in their workshop and assembled on site in our garden. Now a few short months later we are the proud owners of a beautiful 7 seat cinema. The exterior has a lovely backlit stained glass window, and lantern, beautiful interior panelling, art deco lighting and a lovely cabinet with decorative side features, We also have origional cinema seats. The piece de resistance is 7 glorious ceiling and wall paintings by Paul Adams of scenes from our favourite films including 2001, A Space Odyssey, Death in Venice, and Titanic. Paul also made the windows. Mark has tremendous skill in carpentry, construction and working out the technical operations.of putting in place and programming the giant flat screen television which is our screen. Louise is a wonderful designer and organiser and has the skill to find the perfect items and materials for the project.
We are overwhelmed with our new cinema and cannot thank our new found friends enough. This has been life changing for us and Roundhill has fullfilled our dream.”

Hayling Hut

“We were delighted to discover Roundill Shepherds Huts. Having seen a hut whilst on holiday in Devon and another at the Chelsea Flower Show we realised that one would be perfect for our plot of land on the shore of Chichester Harbour. A quick internet search brought up Roundhill who are located deep in the South Downs not far from our home in West Sussex. From the very start we established a rapport with brother and sister partnership, Louise and Paul. We viewed a finished product, appropriately situated in a field full of sheep, and from there we were able to customise our order with inspired and experienced help from Roundhill. We have appreciated their friendly advice and professional attention to detail from the initial site visit to delivery of the finished hut to a challenging location.
Thank you Louise and Paul.”

Compton

“Thank you so much Roundhill for making building our shepherd’s hut such a joyous experience! Our hut exceeds all our expectations and will be much used and loved.
Paul’s landscape painting is the icing on the cake and makes our already beautiful hut just gorgeous.”

An Artist’s Studio

“I am delighted with my shepherd hut, which I am using as an art studio. It is the perfect size and is fitted out with everything I need, such as a sink and really good lighting, along with more windows than a traditional hut!

The hut looks great in our garden and it’s already hard to remember the view without it. Come the summer I’m looking forward to using it additionally as a base for evening drinks or a family barbecue, not to mention a sleepover place for my granddaughter.”

Kent Hut

Located in the garden, this little shepherd hut included a work bench, dresser and sofa/double bed Light and airy with plenty of windows to take in the Kent countryside.

Scottish Shepherd’s Hut

Our client wanted a shepherd’s hut breakfast and kitchen room to go with their b&b annex guest room which would overlook the stunning Loch Ewe. We used old church pews and their ends for seats and kitchen cabinets. An old dresser was given a new lease of life and some early 20th Century wall lights completed the warm and cosy interior, just the ticket for those nippy Scottish mornings.

Pub Shepherd Huts

The Pub at the bottom of the garden – Ever fancied your own pub?

When a man calls out to his wife, with one foot out of the door, “Just off to the pub darling” You probably wouldn’t expect that the journey would involve a walk to the bottom of the garden to meet some friends in his very own micro pub.

Our client had so loved the atmosphere of his local, that he commissioned us to recreate the same feeling in his miniture version, equipped with a full working bar, a wide screen t.v tables and chairs and the ubiquitos beer mats.

The Cat and Bulldog was open.

What could be nicer than a chilled beer in your own shepherd’s hut pub watching Pride and Prejudice…..or maybe some footie on a cool Autumn evening.

Garden Office

Many people now work from home, so a fully insulated and bespoke garden room shepherd hut could be an ideal alternative. Cool in Summer and snug in Winter with the added advantage that no planning permision is required and if you decide to move home then the hut can come along with you.

A Sussex Shepherd’s Hut

“Our shepherd’s hut has made a quiet corner of the garden into an event. It is beautifully crafted – just perfect really. I love looking out at it from the house and spending time there with friends, or painting or writing at the square Georgian window which once graced a Bishop’s palace! The extendable sofa/bed works very well as does the add-in-bunk – all cleverly incorporated into the design. We have already had a family stay overnight even in October and it’s so snug that the grandparents have booked to come in January! Paul and Mark were a delight to have while they were completing the hut on site. Their attention to detail was amazing – everything turned out just as I’d hoped. Louise was really helpful too in sourcing colours and furnishings and discussing decor in general. I couldn’t recommend Roundhill more”
